When Zidane was a Joltik, he was on his mothers' back for a few months, before he was old enough to go out on his own. He was with a small group of Joltik's wandering around searching for food, but instead of eating, Zidane was playful and wanted to play a game with his friends, but nobody was interested.

When Miju and Zaphod show up, they search for a Joltik with the gender and ability that their trainer wanted. After picking out the other Joltiks, Zidane was the only one that had the qualifications that their trainer was searching for. Zidane however, thought that the whole entire thing was a game of cops and robbers.

He was taken to their trainer Mags's house, where he resumed playing. Miju tries to keep the little Joltik under control, before their trainer found out. Miju and Zaphod were scolded for bringing a wild pokemon into the house, however the little Joltick wanted to stay, saying that Miju and Zaphod were fun to play cops and robbers with, and that nobody wanted to play with him. When captured, he is named Zidane.

His playful nature while he was a Joltik began to fade as he started to mature. He was the last of his team to evolve (Wilson wasn't on the team yet.) Even though he enjoys singing, and contests, he prefers battling over them.

Zidane started to be cunning when it came to food, and would often try to take berries away from other pokemon, including from his own teammates. This stopped when he discovered that Wison's ability was Sticky Hold, and everyone was giving Wilson their berries for safe keeping.

Zidane has a bad habit of laughing at others misfortunes, always having a sarcastic comment for it. Otherwise he can be a jolly guy who loves to sing. He's close friends with Zaphod.

At Mags's Pokemon ranch, he has a crush on Frenchman, a shiny female Kricketune who is deaf. He tries hard to explain how he feels about her, since he isn't shy in admitting his feelings, however he had difficulty in trying to express it because she cannot hear. It provides a challenge for him. He enjoys her beautiful music and admires nearby, even if she doesn't notice.

Trivia:
*In game, Zidane has the same moves, nature, and ability as in the comics.
*Zidane is the most underdeveloped character in the comic series. The reason for this was because I was having trouble on how to develop his personality; I didn't know what exactly I wanted him to be. I'm set on the jolly lovable guy or a sarcastic guy.
*Along with trivia #2, Zidane is also the hardest character to draw, thus why he has some of the fewest cameo appearances. He is also the most time consuming.
*In game, his pokeball (Net Ball) is suitable. When he comes out to battle, an image of a spiders' web appears behind him.
*Zidane and Frenchman have not met in game, as Frenchman is in my Diamond version and Zidane is in my White version.
*Zidane's name comes from one of my favorite characters in the manga series "Inubaka." The character named Zidane is a chubby male french bulldog, who's owner is Akiba a chubby geek.
